The Talecris Research and Development team is dedicated to optimizing our current product portfolio, as well as developing new human protein therapeutics through innovative and efficient research solutions. Talecris scientists work in a robust, intellectually stimulating environment emphasizing scientific inquiry and technological excellence.
One example of our innovative work is Plasmin. Plasmin represents a new class of direct-acting thrombolytics that may provide the first localized, non-systemic treatment of blood clots. Talecris is actively pursuing development of Plasmin using both plasma-derived and recombinant technologies.
Additional development projects with existing products represent expanded indications, more efficient production processes, and alternate routes of administration, including aerosol and subcutaneous injections.
Complementing our own internal R&D efforts, Talecris also sponsors external research grant programs that advance scientific knowledge. These include grants made to organizations such as The Partnership Fund, or programs such as Talecris Talents, supporting research efforts of clinicians, scientists, and early career investigators.
