Talecris Biotherapeutics Showcases Its Clayton Facility to State and Local Dignitaries
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (Nov. 4, 2005) – Talecris Biotherapeutics, a leading provider of plasma-based therapeutic proteins, is hosting an open house at their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Clayton, N.C., for state, local, and community officials. Recently recognized as one of "Five Companies to Watch" by the Triangle Business Journal, Talecris was launched in April 2005, inheriting a legacy of more than 60 years of providing lifesaving and life-enhancing plasma-derived therapeutic proteins from Bayer Biological Products' plasma division. With local roots spanning more than 30 years, Talecris is taking this opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to their employees, local community, and patients who benefit from their premium protein therapies. Talecris is a major employer in the region, employing more than 1,700 – approximately 1,400 at the Clayton facility alone. Talecris has been an active supporter and participant in the development of the Johnston County Economic Development and Training District, designed to support the local economy and workforce. In addition, Talecris supports various other local organizations in Johnston, Wake, and Durham counties.

Dignitaries in attendance will tour Talecris' primary manufacturing facility in Clayton – the only state-of-the-art facility in the region completely dedicated to the production of therapeutic proteins that treat rare diseases, including immune deficiencies and genetic emphysema. The open house and tour allow attendees to observe firsthand Talecris' entrepreneurial approach to new product development, application of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, and quality customer service. With a vision to develop innovative therapies and pioneering product advances, Talecris will share exciting initiatives currently underway, as well as future development plans.
