Talecris Plasma Resources Reports Solid Progress Developing Plasma Collection Capabilities

Over the course of the past year, the company has opened 14 new centers throughout the United States and acquired three additional centers.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (February 13, 2008) — Talecris Plasma Resources, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Talecris Biotherapeutics, Inc.,  (www.talecris.com) today provided insight into the company’s progress developing its plasma collection capabilities.  Over the course of the past year, the company has opened 14 new centers throughout the United States and acquired three additional centers.  As of January 2008, Talecris owns a total of 49 plasma collection centers, 33 licensed and 16 unlicensed.  Also, five additional unlicensed centers supplying Talecris were opened in 2007 through Talecris’ strategic alliance with International BioResources, LLC.  In addition, Talecris is in the process of automating all its plasma collection centers. As of January 2008, Talecris has automated 24 of its plasma collection centers.

“At Talecris, we have a long-term commitment to providing reliable supplies of the safest and most advanced protein therapeutics possible to our patients.  The number of plasma centers Talecris is opening underscores this promise, and is unprecedented in our industry,” said Lawrence Stern, Chairman and CEO of Talecris Biotherapeutics, Inc.  “In effect, we are growing as fast as we can while staying true to our guiding principles of quality and compliance.”

Talecris also made progress improving certain centers it obtained through acquisition.  In 2007, Talecris received 10 new FDA licenses and completed 30 FDA inspections.  In addition, the company has successfully remediated a center acquired late in 2006 that, at the time of acquisition, was operating with a warning letter from the FDA.  Based on a recent FDA inspection of the center, which concluded with no observations from the FDA, the Warning Letter will be removed from the center.

Plasma collected at Talecris centers provides the source material for the production of critical care protein therapies to treat people with life-threatening disorders in a variety of therapeutic areas, including immunology, pulmonology and hemostasis.  The current list of company-owned plasma collection center locations may be accessed at http://www.talecrisplasma.com/4.1.0_centers.aspx.
